Of appreciating and treasuring the one

i love it that we love to spend time together
i love it when u accept my excuses to spend more time together
i love it that u feel comfortable telling mi anything
i love it that i feel that i have nothing to hide from u
i love it that u know what u want in life
i love it that we can't keep our hands away from each other
i love it that we can't keep our lips away from each other
i love it when u pull my face to u so we could kiss
i love it when u gimme affectionate hugs
i love it that we have a to-do-list
i love it that we can maintain silence and juz enjoy each other's company
i love it that u miss mi as much as i miss u
i love it that we just wan to make it work :)

My One True Love gave mi a surprise today, a veri pleasant surprise..even thinking about it now makes mi smile..or perhaps the thought of spending more time with her alone makes mi smile..either way...i like :)

quite a few blessings have come our way since we got together, and every time i hear those blessings, i feel all the more better about us...making it good and all the way :)

COM 443: A Reflection for Advertising #4

And so today finally marks the end of what is a real growing journey for me, and for many of my fellow classmates too i guess. This would arguably be one of the last few modules, if not the last, for me to work with the many people in class with whom I've had the pleasure to know and work with. I would like to mention a few names...

Naz

As appointed director, Naz (whom i like to call "Malay!" for obvious reasons) has never failed his duties as a leader of the group. So while Spatiality has never been tops in almost any of our assignments, but have fought for last place usually instead, he has always been optimistic in making sure the team has not given up...but strive on for the next assignment. My only regret is that I have not had the chance to work with him more, for he is a joy to work with, and more than a friend I could ask for.

Kerri

This would be my first time working with Kerri, our very own Miss SIM-UB. Although i knew her only not too long ago..I only thought of her as someone who would be nice to work with, and true enough, we were drawn to the same team. I'll always enjoy going over to her place to do our assignments, play with her huskies, and her mutated XL-sized sze-tzu which looks more like a pug. Unfortunately i believe this would be the last time I work with her again.

Felicia

Felicia is perhaps the other group member other than naz whom I regret not having the chance to have more chances to work with. Eye bag jokes aside, she really gave her all for Spatiality, and when it comes down to doing serious work, she can deliver. Moreover, she's one of the few individuals whom i feel very comfortable talking to as well, perhaps that contributes to why I would think she's an invaluable member to any team. With her in the team, i felt Spatiality had more life...and thats a good thing.

Jamie

I knew her since orientation, through the one-and-only Ellyas, but never really got to talk to her until advertising, my loss. The reason i say that is because, underneath that bubbly personality, is a person with a wealth of knowledge, especially in the world of media, and through her, i have learnt tons, really a lot of stuff which I would never have known. Another reason why I liked working with her was because of her willingness to always volunteer her workplace's resources to accomplish Spatiality's assignments :)

Suen Hui

Because this is not my first time working with her, I sort of knew Suen Hui's working style...while she is in no way a difficult person to work with(in fact, i enjoy working with her), she might sometimes express herself in ways which might rub people off the wrong way...Suen Hui would admit that herself, but it is her sincerity to apologize which really makes her a wonderful person, and therefore, a person with whom I am proud to have worked with. :) Oh yeah, she has a freaking creative mind...and helluva good photoshopper (along with Felicia of course :P).

Daphne

Undoubtedly the unsung hero of the team, Daphne has been arguably the hardest worker in the team. She is willing to pick up anyone's slack without complaints, step up to tasks voluntarily, and be the ever resourceful researcher. I believe she has a given talent in being a researcher, because for whatever anyone us are able to research on, she somehow manages to churn out way much more information (I am not exaggerating). It helps that she is also the peace keeper of the team, as things do get heated up at times, and she'll be there to cool things down.

I believe this would be the last time I get to work with any of these brilliant individuals, who have made my journey of advertising a wonderful one. It is through such hardships that we treasure such memories more. I would like to take this final opportunity to thank each and every single member of spatiality, Naz, Kerri, Felicia, Jamie, Suen Hui and Daphne...

thank you :)

Of things happening this way and that

Recently many many things have happened, some good, some not so good, though i would like to think that things have turned out for the better~

I hope that she has moved on as well as i have, and simply look back at the past and think of it as an experience...and leave it that way.

I hope to have improved as a person so that i could be a better man...

I hope to be the best I can for the one whom I'd like to call my one true love now :)

Finally, I hope I can tell her i love her everyday and not get sick of it...mushy...i know...but i like :P

Of uni bashes, being hit upon...and enjoying some company

So my sch's uni bash was held recently over the weekend...and becuz i missed last year's bash, and becuz 2 good frens were in the pageant, and a certain someone was there, i felt obliged to make a presence...

Becuz its been awhile since i've clubbed, and becuz the theme for the bash is mafia, and becuz i happen to have the rite clothing, i dressed up to being the most elaborate i've ever dressed to look as close to a mafia as possible...guess i failed though...too kid looking...as shall be explained...

during the course of the bash, i was running around the whole place to keep myself entertained, but still one random stranger sneaked up from behind...and tried to talk up to mi...for the first time...i've been hit upon by a gal...woah...dressing elaborately has its benefits :P she tot i was her age though...a whooping 5 yrs diff...

While the event had some hiccups (which events doesnt?), it was an overall success! Kudos to the organising committee~

So much for the bash...the nite realli started for mi when i had the priviledge of having a certain someone for company...we played 5-10 (i ususally lost), we drank, i puked, and we danced the nite away~ i like!

she made the nite enjoyable~

Of getting lost in MacCritchie and pondering the irony of life...

After countless attempts to arrange for jogging sessions...yesterday, Mr Chua Bing Wei Justin, Cricket Lee Huiwen and myself finally came together for a run...a run dat i would come to think of fondly...for several reasons...

1. running in a group has reminded mi how enjoyable it is to run together.
2. this running session has introduced mi to MacRitchie all over again...esp the Treetop walk...nice walking trail~
3. relived the experience of my cross-country and army days of running in Mac...
4. ran longer than we thought...got lost abit...but nonetheless enjoyed tremendously...

Now if onli i felt that i have lost any weight...which i feel i haven :P

On a side note...history had to repeat itself...irony...oh well, hope she's for the better now...find a better guy...

COM 443: A Reflection for Advertising #3

I just caught the movie "Julie and Julia" about a week back, and have to say, I enjoyed it. This is not the usual blockbuster kind of action movie that lack real substance but attracts crowds. It is more of a movie which after viewing...provides food for thought for the viewer.

On one hand, the movie portrays of the famous Julia Child(aptly played by the maginificent Meryl Streep), her trials and tribulations to getting her book published. On the other hand, the story of Julie Powell is played by the lovable Amy Adams, whose character decides to cook all 524 dishes in 365 days, and blog her progress in the process.

I believe the relevant aspect of how advertising could be applied in this movie is of how the character of Julie Powell had unknowingly advertised herself as a blogging phenomenon whom people looked forward to reading. Because of the attention she got as each blog post was uploaded, Julie knew that she had to watch what she typed in order not to get herself into trouble. For instance, there was a day when she did not have time to preapare the day's recipe unless she skipped work. Hence, she called in sick and reflected it on her blog that she was not feeling well. This perhaps in a way reflects advertising in the real world, where puffery and lies are told to capture the audiences' attention and impress them.

How another form of advertising (or lackthereof in this case) that could be found in the movie was when Julia Child and her co-writers had difficulty finding publishers who would publish their cook book. Perhaps it might have been a much easier and faster process should Julia had promoted herself and her cook book more appropriately to the publishers so as to impress them as much as possible. In this case perhaps, the lack of promoting and advertising skills were proven to be sorely lacking.

One aspect of the movie which i would like to focus on and still have no real answer to it is if the whole idea of publishing the cook book was because there was no such cook books in the market then, or because it so happened to be a novel idea at that point in time and a eagle-eyed publisher found her by sheer luck. While I would have liked to think that it was the former, the possibiity for the later seems higher, as research for such academic work seemed irrelevant at that time. As such, I would like to stress that in order to make a product work, we should look at the market and identify issues that cause trouble or can be improved, and then work towards creating a product which would help solve the matter.

All in all, I really enjoyed the movie, not only because of the perhaps subtle hints of advertising found in the movie, but also for the many other factors that make the movie such a joy to watch, such as the hardships and happiness of the different characters, how things were then and now, and the importance and cherishment of the people around you.
